This semester has been fantastic! I have really grown to appreciate the theater community after this class. In all honesty, I was not huge fan at the beginning, but this class helped me open my mind to new ideas and experience. The first major progress is I got a lot better at memorization. From our first monologues to our final scene, I finally figured out what would make me a successful memorizer. I also believe that I got a better attitude throughout the course. In the beginning I had a bad attitude but as we continued throughout the year, you as a teacher go to see who I truly am. I think our class also became a lot closer throughout all of the different activities. Overall, I progressed in many different ways.
I way stretched in many different ways. First off, my first monologue went totally outside of my comfort zone. I had to be more serious then I have ever been in my entire acting career. After this experience I still prefer having fun in scenes, but it was a good learning experience. Secondly, I was stretched doing the mask work. I found it extremely challenging not to be able to use my facial expressions. I learned the using only body movements can be as enjoyable as any other scene.

In this class I both challenged and in my element at the same time. I struggled with monologues and having to memorize lines and be someone very different to who I am as a person. I found the silent movie to be very easy because it allowed be to unscripted and similar to myself. This class also challenged my play review skills. Before this class I would have never thought how the lighting affected the overall tone of a show. I especially realized this during "The Caucasian Chalk Circle".
I have really enjoyed being to be able to both struggling and excel.
My favorite project has to be the silent movie. We got to do crazy things that were expressed really well through no speaking. It also allowed to really step out of the box in what could be done in theater. I loved that we could write it ourselves and everyday it would improve. The silent movie came out hilarious and I love showing it to all my friends. I also got to pull out my crazy side, which does not happen often.
As a performer I learned that I really only be characters I can relate to. Without being able to relate I struggle to find the right voice and mannerisms. I also prefer being a big character with no limits instead of being a person who has to be shy or reserved. I love being as loud and as over the top as I can be without anyone stopping me. I also learned that I have a horrible memory. Half of the time in the projects without words I would just make it up as I went along. In the class I learned a lot about myself and how I worked with the other students in my class.
If I were to take this class again I would want to work on being someone more reserved. In the theater world it is important to be versatile. I want to work on versatility. If I did the afternoon theater program I would like to be able to incorporate dance into acting. Also, I would like to become a better singer.
